From Estimate to Installation

How long does it take Solid Surface Designs to fabricate and install a new countertop? The answer involves the entire process that leads from estimate to installation.

Step One: Estimate/Purchase

Solid Surface Designs will use the drawing, dimensions and design details you provide to create an estimate for you. After your initial payment we will create a job folder that contains a copy of your estimate, installation contract, countertop drawing with dimensions, the details of your purchase along with a lien waiver which we will ask you to sign after your project has been installed to your satisfaction.

Step Two: Template

If your cabinets are set and fastened in place we’ll coordinate with you to schedule your template appointment. Our goal is to have a templator at your job site within 5 business days of your purchase. The templator will arrive on the job site within a one hour window of the appointed time. It may take between two to three hours to complete the template. The templator will verify all the details of your purchase and will also answer any questions you have regarding your installation. You or a legal representative (18 yrs. old) must be on site to sign off on all project specifications.

Step Three: Project Verification

After your template is complete we will verify that the estimated price you paid covers all the costs involved with your project. A number of factors can affect the cost. The template may reveal an increase in the square footage; you might choose to upgrade an edge detail, change the way your sink is mounted or even decide to add new pieces to your project (i.e., a vanity, bar top etc.). If there is price increase you will be immediately contacted and we’ll discuss your options.

If you purchased natural stone countertops we will ask you to personally approve the slabs to be used to fabricate your project. After material is approved and we have all the fabrication information we need, including having any undermounted sinks and faucets in the shop we will create a Shop Folder which is given to our production team.

What can delay a project? If the material you’ve chosen is back-ordered at the supplier or if we are waiting for you to approve the slabs used to fabricate your tops will delay your installation. However we do everything in our power to eliminate unexpected delays.

Step Four: Production

As soon as the production team receives the Shop Folder they will call you to set your installation appointment. As your project moves through the production process every piece is checked to make certain that it is true to the digital template and your fabrication instructions. Once completed your countertops are staged for installation.

We anticipate it may take up to 15 business days from the time your project enters production until your installation.

Step Five: Installation

The install crew will arrive at your home within a two hour window of your installation appointment. You will be contacted if there are any unforeseen delays. The installation should take approximately four to six hours, longer if needed.

After the installation we want you to perform a thorough inspection of your new countertops. We want you to be absolutely satisfied with the work we’ve performed.

In 1993 Solid Surface Designs, Inc., began business as a factory certified fabricator-installer for DuPont Corian. Since then we have grown to become the region's largest fabricator and installer of Granite, Quartz and Solid Surface countertops.
