Granite is an igneous rock (cooled slowly in the deep upper part of the Earth’s crust) composed of 25% to 35% quartz and over 50% potassium and sodium-rich feldspars. Marble is a metamorphic rock, limestone that has been transformed by the geologic effect of intense heat, pressure and chemical action while buried deep within the Earth. Soapstone
Soapstone is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of talc which over millions of years has been transformed through the geological effects of intense heat and pressure. It is extremely dense and therefore durable and stable. Soapstone slabs are great for use as countertops or as fireplace surrounds.

Travertine
Travertine is a metamorphic rock. Though sometimes called travertine marble, the stone is really a unique form of limestone deposited by mineral springs. The stone is filled with hollow spheres caused by the release of carbon dioxide during its formation.
