Granite Deals in the Boneyard

blog photo

What happens to the material that is left over after a granite countertop is fabricated and installed? It depends on how much material is left over. After fabrication any full slabs that were set aside for the project but not used are simply returned to inventory. Partial slabs are measured and if they contain 25 square feet or more of material they are labeled as partial slabs and returned to inventory. But if the amount of usable stone is less than 25 square feet the material is labeled as remnant.

Partial slabs and remnants are stored in an area we call the "Boneyard” and it’s a great place to find great deals. Regardless of the original cost of the stone SSD will template, fabricate and install a vanity top from remnant material for as little as $450. This is an outstanding opportunity to save money on small projects or portions of larger projects that are less than 25 square feet.

In 1993 Solid Surface Designs, Inc., began business as a factory certified fabricator-installer for DuPont Corian. Since then we have grown to become the region's largest fabricator and installer of Granite, Quartz and Solid Surface countertops.
